Well I am just going to start off with the reaction that I had when I read the weekly email that EVERYONE IS MARRIED!!!
What the crap! Eric, Tanner, and Ben... and all with people that I know and that it is crazy! I am speechless.... I dont know how to react. I am old. Wow....
Okay well here is my week.
Monday- Well today was a stressful day. We slept in a little bit and then cleaned the house. We went to Coban and while we were in the bus I couldnt breathe at all so I sent a message to the nurse and also I took my inhaler... I dont know how to spell that, I am sorry. We talked to Hna. Starky and I got put into the mission blog. We went to Carcha and I made lasanga by myself and that was sad but it was really yummy, thank you mom for teaching me how to cook. It comes in handy here in the mission. We wrote and we left our blender in Internet so we had to run to get it. My comp and I had a good talk and my legs started to bleed a lot. Thank you bugs here in Chamelco.
Tuesday- Well today was kinda boring. We woke up and then we left at 8 to go visit an investigator who wasnt there so that was lame. We came home and I made breakfast, omlet with a smoothie. We went and visited the family cruz and I got listen to some great music. We then took a pretty great tuc tuc ride and that was good. Then we found hno maynor and bernardo, members, and we did some service for them.
Wednesday- Well today was okay. We got ready but I felt really bad because I started my personal study late and I love that time so I felt pretty bad. We had district meeting and that was really good. No one talked to me besides an elder because the people think that I dont know spanish so thats good... hahaha. I talked about the lord of the rings and also the hobbit today with two hermanas and that was a good talk. It made me happy.
Thursday- Well today we had mini divisions and we walked a ton. But the hermana that was with me told us that our area is in the polichic and that was cool. We found hna sophia and she accepted a baptism date. We also found a really yummy candy that I love. We did more service today.
Friday- Well today we didnt really do anything. We had our christmas lunch with president and that was so good. Hna Christsen, that left from Utah with me, was there and that was great to spend the day with her. We had NDH and one Hermano was making whistling noises at me and he called me hot infront of my investigators and my investigators protected me, that was pretty cool.
Saturday- Today we walked a ton and we also found three new famiilies today and that was a miricle. We also found a really cute group of grandmas that only speak q`eqchi` and I was able to talk to them and that was cool. We went and visited the family cruz and I was able to draw a picture in their house and it is pretty accurate.
Sunday- Today was interesting, we went to church and after all the meetings a hermano the same that made whistling noises at me on Friday started to spread a rumor that I kissed another guy in church but like that isnt true at all. He like called me Satan and that I was lying and everything. He also talked to the president of the branch and the president belives me and it was a mess and like the crazy hermano told me that he loves me and that he wants to run away with me. And that when I leave he is going to kiss me and give me a hug and never let me go. So I guess that is what I get for being white here in Chamelco. We went to the Christmas devotional for the stake and it was good but it was really good but really long. I learned a lot about the life and the birth of Jesus Christ. I really like it a lot.
Well that is my week and it was pretty great!
Now I am going to spend a second to just talk to my family because they are going to kill me if I dont tell them, this is for you mom. This week my health has gotten a lot worse and the nurse told me that that I might be going home if I dont get better soon. So I am going to try to become better but I just want to let you guys know that I love you and that I am good. I just have problems with breathing and that is only when I am sitting for a long peirod and when I am walking for long distance. But I am good. I promise. :)
Also for Christmas I am able to use skype and I am really excited about that, I dont know all of the information but I can call Christmas Eve or Chirstmas Day, whatever is best for you guys. I love you and I need to know what day and at what time is better for you guys because you guys are going to be moving and everything and it is crazier at home.
Well I love you guys so much and I hopet you guys have a great week! Love you all!
Well this is my week!
Monday- Well today was a pretty chill pday. My hija finnished packing and then we went to Coban and ate taco Bell it wasnt that good.... But like we are in Guatemala and the flavor wasnt there and it wasnt spicy... We printed off pictures and then went to write. We went to the office and that was good. We said goodbye to everyone that my hija wanted to say goodbye to, we came home and we had a good talk and we reflected on our two changes together.
Tuesday- Well today we had cambios and it was pretty sad. But I felt super left out but you know, its okay. We came home and we talked while my compa unpacked. We left and visited hno otto and then found a really perfect family that I think that they can progress. We also found a new lady and that amazing we laughed a lot today.
Wednesday- Today we did some good work and that felt good. We contacted in the morning and then we went to visit some members. Today I put it into my mind about the goal that we have for this week, I think that we can make it and our goal is to have 4 recent converts in this month and I have faith that we can do it. We had english english class and it was reallly good. It felt really good to teach again. My district leader, Elder Mondragon thinks that I am funny and that is good.
Thursday- Well today could have been the best day ever. We had district meeting and my zone celebrated my birthday and I felt so loved, and it didnt make me baggy. We ate as a district and I laughed a lot. We found two great hnas that are prepared to be baptized. We also went and visited hna. Brenda and that was always great. I got a phone call from han. asusena and I cried because she is just too cute. She wished me a happy birthday and told me like I am her daughter. It was too cute.
Friday- TODAY WAS MY BIRTHDAY. And it eas so much fun. Also its the cumple mes de mi compa. And like I wasnt even that baggy. We did some work and then we had NDH and my compa threw a surprise birthday with coke and everything. We might have broken a mission rule and lit fireworks and I got burned but you know today was a really good day and I feel really blessed here in Coban. I missed my family but not too much.
Saturday- Well today we walked a ton and it was so muddy that it made for a great adventure. We visited sophia and she told us that she knows that this church is true. We visited hno otto and talked to him. And visited the fam cruz and they are so sweet and I already love them. We were a little late but we enjoyed today a lot.
Sunday- Today we walked in so much mud and I am so surprised that I didnt fall down the mountains that we climbed today. We contacted a lot and we found 7 new families today and that was good. We walked home with Jacinto but we met a family whose kids baby loves me and I had a moment of where I just wanted kids but dont worry mom and dad, I will wait. haha. I knew that it would happen here in the mission.
Well like I love you all and I am so happy here and like I hope that you guys have a good week and that everything works out there in the states. I love you all and thank you for the birthday wishes. I love you!
Well I am just letting you guys know that I love you guys with all of my heart and I missed you guys a lot this week with Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping and everything. My comp is kinda annoied because I would be like, ¨right now my family is eating or right now my family is shopping for clothes with out me...¨ It was pretty great for me to see here understand and enjoy to find out what we do on Thanksgiving.
Monday- Today was a chilld day. We went shopping in the carcha market and that was huge and a lot of people were there. We then went and made food as a district and that was good. I made a little treat like always... the Elders are really happy that I am in their district because they can get food from me. I played ping pong and thanks to dad and Grant, I am the champion here. We wrote in a pretty cool writting lab and that was nice. We had NDJ or FHE with Hermana Braidy and that was good. I fell asleep really fast and it was a good day.
Tuesday- Well today was good. We contacted and that was good because we got to know a new family. He had a branch activity here in Chamelco and we played soccer. As some of you know, I cant really play soccer but I like to give it my best so being the only girl wasnt very fun. But you know, we made it work out. Well something happened today that I was not very happy about... I was playing soccer and my companion was talking with a hermana outside of the gate, I could still see her and talk to her but then she just left me there with 15 guys by myself. She went to the store to buy some ¨hot chocolate¨. Well if you guys dont know the rules as a missionary, you cant leave your companion at all but she left me with a ton of guys. I was pretty upset and I was very disappointed with her but you know, we forgive and we forget but that just made me think that I need to have a closer eye on my companions. But we talked about it and everything is good now.
Wednesday- Today was still alittle sad day but you know that its okay. We made pancakes as a district and they were interesting... We had English class and that was good, a lot of people came. It felt good to have people there.
Thursday. Today was like any other day, great. I got to watch a part of a barbie movie and like I think that I liked it... it might just be because I havent seen a movie in almost 9 months or maybe I am like a child and I like bright lights. I have no idea. We visited hno Franz and that was good. And ghost are following him.. thats pretty great. Happy Thanksgiving all. I missed eating with the family but I was celebrating with eating some yummy food from Guatemala so I am happy about that.
Friday. BLACK FRIDAY!!!! Today we were able to find Hno Otto and that was a miracle. We went to his house and it is so cute, like really so cute. We then had NDH and that was good. We laughed a lot and the branch is getting more involved as well. We played never have I ever nd that was fun but also awkward. They got to learn a lot about me and that is good.
Saturday- Today we contacted and that was good. We had Hna. Braidy with us and she has such a strong testimony that it is crazy. We found Hna Patti and she accepted a baptism date and I hope that this time everything works out. We were so cold today that it was crazy, it felt like I was in Utah again... CRAZY. We found out about changes and my daughter is leaving me and I am sad about that.
Sunday. Today we went to church and I gave a talk about how people can share their testimonies always and the branch thinks that I am funny and that was good. We had a meeting with president and that was pretty good. We got words of advice on how we can improve as a district. We went to a christmas concert from people that are american and they were singing in q´eqchi´ and that was really cool. They are all from Utah and they were happy that I spoke English. We came home and did dats and I found out who my new companion is going to be and I dont know her but I have heard that she is funny so we will get along then.
Well that is my week but I want to share with you guys a quote that I found in my quote box. It is,
¨His spirit guides
His love assures
That fear departs,
When faith endures¨
I am in love with that quote because its so true. Also a scripture that I love that I found this week while reading is D&C 88:119. I just want to thank my mom and dad for having a house of prayer always and for helping us realize the importance of getting along. Well I love you all I hope that you have a great week. I will miss you guys this week as I turn 20 years old but just know that I feel your love always. Have a great week and read D&C 9 if you guys have time. I love it!
Monday, November 23, 2015
Well this week we lived in the Polochic and that is a place here in Guatemala where they dont have light and water and they only speak Q´eqchi´. Well a part of this is correct and that is that we didnt have light and water and I spoke a ton of Q´eqchi´ as well. Well this is my week.
Well that was my week and I told you that I was going to send you guys a lot of photos and that is true. I sent you guys a ton and I love you all and I will send you guys a spirital mesage next wek because I am running our of time. But like I love you all so much.
Well I will just start with how my week was...
Tuesday- Today was a little pday and that was great. It was a lot of fun and we wrote and that felt really great to hear and talk with them. We had mini divisions and that was good. I was with Hermana Coello and it went pretty well. My compa is bien pilas and she put a baptism date with one of our investigators and I was really proud of my compa. We came home and slept great because it was a stressful day.
Wednesday- Today was not a very good day. Well we put a baptism date with an investigator and then my comp and I didnt get along at all. We got in a fight but you know what we had to keep working so you know we made up and that was good. We had English Class and that was good but my comp and I didnt talk afterwords....
Thursday- Well today was even worse. Let me just say it simply, my comp cried for 2 hours. We talked it all out and we started laughing again and it was good to be how we normally are. It was my wake up call that as a mom in the mission, I am not only responsible for me but also for how my daughter feels. Its my goal to put that into action this week.
Friday- Well today we did service. We painted the house of Hermana Nimia and the paint here is so different, its like liquidy and I dont like it. We started our fast and then my comp and I talked about FRIENDS and she is a complete Ross and I am a mix between Monica and Chandler. Then we talked about The Big Band Theory and I am Penny... thats pretty cool. We taught Otto and that went pretty great. I started to feel sick at NDH and we came home to not having light....
Saturday- Well today I was so sick. I woke with a feeling like I needed to throw up but since I was fasting, I couldnt and I had a really high fever. So we did divisons and I went with Hermana Nimia and my comp went with Hermana Braidy. I watched the cutest little boy dance salsa and I was so impressed. I didnt eat anything so that was a 2 day fast for me. And we didnt have lights again!
Sunday- Today we had a multi stake conference and that was weird but I was able to hear my favorite apostle, Elder Bednar. We came home and ate with Hermana Vicky and we did service for her. We helped her decorate her Christmas Tree and it made miss home a little bit. We tried to contact but that didnt work out. No one wanted to have us bless their lives with a wonderful message. We even had a member with us but you know, nothing. We tried to visit memebers as well but the same, nothing. And we still dont have lights.... Go team!
And today we went to some caves that are close to our house and they are pretty cool. I am feeling better and that is good but you know, the nurse is kinda worried about me but you know, its okay. I am alright.
Well mom, I got the packages and thank you so much. All the Elders are jealous because they are like, your mom loves you so much and I know that it is true. That you all love me so much so thank you!
Its crazy that this week I hit 8 months into the mission, how fast time goes by here!
I also heard something that I loved and it is from Elder Bednar, it is, ¨Its not hard to be a member of la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, its hard to be a member of la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días and live the gospel.¨ How true is that, it isnt hard to be a member but it is hard to be a member that lives the gospel and the principals of the church. That is my challenge for you guys, that you guys can start to live the gospel if you guys arent already. Well I love you all but like always, I cant send pictures today but I love you all and you are in my prayers.
I LOVE YOU ALL!
Well I will first start off by saying that I am sorry that I didnt write yesterday but it was because we went to the captial to have my comp sign her documents to live here in Guate. But I am able to write now and this week was an adventure.
Monday- Today was a pretty chill day. We played soccer as Hermanas and I made a really sweet goal. Upper left corner and it was a good way to run. We then ate and there was a freaking taco bell but we didnt know that so we ate subway. We had NDJ with Hna. Nimia and we shared scary stories. And I am not going to lie, I am scared of the ghost that strangles people at night... thank you companion.
Tuesday- Today we didnt do a lot. We had a lesson with Brenda (Our converso) and that was really good. We had two other lessons but they werent that great. I dont really remember what else happened but you know that is the life of the mission....
Wednesday- Today we didnt do anything. We taught Hno. Ottto and then we had English Class. It was pretty good and the class is learning a lot really fast and that is always good. We came home and prepared to teach a lot tomorrow.
Thursday- Today we had zone meeting and it was so good. We recieved revelation on how to help our investigators to come to church. We had a good practice with Elder Calona who is our zone leader and it really helped me realize the importance of listening to our investigators and how that is going to help us understand and teach with their needs in mind. We then found our investigator Carlos in the street and that was a miracle. We then taught Hna. Fabiola English and then we went and visited Hna. Patti and she broke her foot. It was crazy because we havent visited her for about a month and then the day that we went, she was in her house and she really needed to hear about the gospel and know how much we care for her.
Friday- Today we had interviews with president and they were really great. It made me miss my family a little bit because Hermana Curtiss likes to ask me about my family and I showed her picutres and she thinks that we are all really cute. And I am sorry Grant, but you dont look like you belong in the family.... haha. I also found out that I have to go to the capital on Monday and I am not very happy about that because its 5 hours in a bus one way. We had a good NDH with a geat talk from Braidy. There were only 6 people there but thats okay because the spirit was there. We shared more scary stories...
Saturday- Today we worked. We went and walked with Hna. Sandra and invited her to church and we found out her problem. Her ex boyfriend is a member and her mom doesnt like it when she is with him or even close to her... so I dont know what we are going to do with that one.... Any ideas? We then went and visited Hno Otto and he started to teach some kids about the church and he bore his testimony about the church. He is freaking pilas and that is one thing that I am so glad about. He told us that he is coming to church and I am excited. We visited Hna. Patti and she is going to come to church with us. :)
Sunday- Today a freaking miracle happened. Well let me start off by telling you guys a story. So Saturday night I dreament that we went to church and there in Sacrament Meeting there were a ton of our investigators there. I dont know why I dreament that but my dream came true. We went to church with Hna. Patti and there at church were 6 investigators. 6. I am so shocked to see Hno. Otto, Hno. Carlos, Hna. Patti, Hno. Pedro, Hno. Marcos y Hna. Bety. I was so shocked to see their faces there ready to learn about the gospel. It was the primary program and all of the investigators loved it so much. It was so cute. We ate with Hna. Vicky with some Elders from Carcha, Elder Mondragon y Elder Flores. We went and visited a really big family that we met and they are interested in the gospel so I think that we are going to keep visiting them. And then we planned for our ¨trip¨ for tomorrow.
Monday- We went to the capital today. We woke up atand left at from Chamelco. We got to Coban at 3. We then left and got on a big bus and were there for 5 hours. IT was a good bus ride because I slept the whole time and I sat up front so I didnt get carsick. It was nice. We met some of the missonaries and that was fun. We ate little ceasers and it was so so so so so so so yummy. I miss food like that. We met some Elders that are serving in the Guatemala East mission and that was really awkward. The Elders in that mission are really formal and they are very different from the Elders from Coban. It took us about 5 hours to get home and we took a freaking sketchy bus from Coban to Chamelco and I was really scared but we were protected. We got home around and I was really tired.
Well that was my week and I am sorry that I wrote a lot but you know.... I have experiences and stories that I want to share with you guys.
My spiritual thought for this week is I was reading in Alma 17. And I am sorry but I only have my spanish scriptures but in verses 2-11. I like the most. It talks about how the hijos de Mosiah are with Alma and how they are blessed because they prayed and fasted much. And that they were put through many afflictions and had a lot of problems, they were hungry BUT their spirit was strengthen. And the verse that I want to share with you guys is verse 11. Dice, ¨Empero seréis pacientes en las congojas y aflicciones, para que les déis buenos ejemplos en mí y os haré instrumentos en mis manos, para la salvación de muchas almas.¨ I like this verse because something that has been helping me is determining my attitude because that defines my actitude. And this week I am working a lot on how I can become more like my loving savior and I am so excited that I am willing and worthy to teach about this resorted gospel with everyone that is here in Coban.
Well I love you all and I hope that you have a great week. I am sorry, I dont have a way to send pictures today but I will send a lot next week!
Love you all!
Lix Jual Nujenaq
Well let me just start off by telling you that we have a loving Heavenly Father and there is no way that I can deny that He loves us. And that He listens to our prayers and helps us through all of our problems.
Monday- Well this pday was good but it was full of walking. And someone tried to steal my wallet from my backpack. What happened was I had my wallet in my backpack and we were in the market. Normally I walk with my backpack infront of me but for some reason I didnt do that. We were stopped looking at some things and a thought came to my mind that was simply, ¨do you have your wallet?¨ I turned around to see a guy with my wallet in his hand. I said in English, ¨Nope, thats mine but thank you.¨ This guy was not very happy with me and he got really sassy and I dont know what happened but I am so glad that thought came into my mind because I had my two debit cards in there and a lot of money because it was pday but dont worry, I learned from my mistake. We had FHE with one of the hermanas in the ward and it was really good but kinda awkward because they speak q´eqchi´ and I dont so I tried to teach them... it was interesting.
Tuesday- We didnt really do a lot and the lessons that we taught werent really great. I dont know what happened but I didnt really feel the spirit today and my spanish was really bad today. Thats all that happened today.
Wednesday- We had district meeting and it was good and I learned a lot about the importance of the members and how we need their help a lot. We went and visited Hermana Brenda and that was great. We also had our first class in English and it went really well. I cant talk in spanish for the whole class and it was pretty weird but the students learned a lot. There were 12 people there and 4 of them werent members and we are going to have a lot more the next week.
Thursday- We had divisions and that was needed. We got two new investigators (that is important for later on in this email) and we talked to the parents of hermana Brenda about her baptism date and her dad said no but her mom told us yes so we are going to baptism her on Saturday! She is really prepared to become a member.
Friday- We had a very interesting day because we had the baptism interview of Hermanita Brenda and our district leader was so surprised that she is only 11 and she knows so much. We had NDH and it was good because we had 5 investigators with us and we got another new investigator (also important). We got to talk to one of our family investigators that we havent visited in 2 weeks and they said that they came because they missed us and we are going to have dinner with them on Sunday.
Saturday- We had the baptism today and it was so great because it was a small service but they spirit was there. It was great to she it because her brother (Hermano Jacinto) baptized her and afterward they were both crying in the baptism font and the spirit was so strong. And afterward we were pretty lazy and tired because it was a lot of stress that we just had one lesson but it was a great lesson and we helped our investigator and it was great.
Sunday- TODAY A MIRICLE HAPPENED. So to explain about the () in this email. So as a zone we have a goal to have 15 new investigators each week and for the week we only had 3 and we got a good talkinto about that by our district leader. So we planned to contact and we found and taught 12 new investigators today and it was a miricle because the people that we found are all so special and I know that they can go far and we found 2 new families and that felt so great. We had dinner with our family that are investigators and they make really yummy rice. We then went home and my district leader doesnt think that I know how to do dats but I do because I have been in the mission for 7 months.
This week I really realized that I am almost half way done with my mission and I am not ready for that at all. I just want to stay out here forever (sorry mom) but its true.
Well I cant send pictures because the internets here arent that great and I just hope that next week I can because we took some great pictures this week and I am so glad to be a missionary.
Mom and the girls in the family- What color skirts do you want? What color shirt do you want?
Dad and the boys in the family- What color tie do you guys want?
I dont know what to do because its a little different and I am pretty bad at picking colors fo you guys.
Well I love you all and I hope that this week you guys do fun things without me. I love ya!
Well this week was really busy and let me just let you know that my dream came true this week and I am so happy!
Monday was a crazy day. We went to the market in jeans and it felt so nice to wear jeans and not a skirt. Man, I miss jeans. We went to Coban and that was always good. We printed off pictures. We had FHE with a member and we got to meet his whole family that are not members and I am praying that they will accept the gospel one day.
Tuesday- Today was good. We did a lot of stuyding and we made some pretty great goals. We contacted and we taught Tarci for the first time and we finally got past the friend zone with her. With her she is always like, ¨Hermanas you are my friends so lets talk about what friends talk about not about the gospel.¨ Well this week we were actaully able to talk to her because I started the conversation like, ¨Hermana Tarci this morning I was studying about our purpose here on the earth and I am just wondering if you think that we have a purpose here.¨ and that is how we started Lession 2 with here. We then went and visited Hna. Braidy and they needed us there. It was really hot but at night it was really cold. We have a new district leader and we got to talk to him on the phone and he seems pretty cool but I dont know yet. haha.
Wednesday- We contacted a lot and it was good because we met a lot of really cool people. We visited Hna. Brenda and we taught her a lot and she was really pilas and accepted all of it. We didnt really do anything else today.
Thursday- We visited Hno. Franz who is a less active and we got to know him a little bit better and it was really great because he said that he is going to come to church this week and that will be a miracle. We had mini divisions and that was good because I went and taught a lesson to one of our investigators and we put a baptism date with her and she is really excited to have a baptism date. We then went and visited a member and she shared her testimony on the power of prayer and it was so great. I felt the spirit so strong.
Friday- We taught a lesson with Hna. Tarci and we then went and visited one of our investigators that doesnt want to come with church with us. We invited him and he told us that he cant come because of his dad so we are going to fast for him. We went and visited hna. Bren
da and we taught her lesson 3 and she understood it perfectly.
da and we taught her lesson 3 and she understood it perfectly.
Saturday- we visited a lot of members and it was great. We then went and visited Hna. Brenda and we talked to her parents because she is 11 and her parents are not very okay with her being baptized so we were able to talk to her mom and she was really strong on her not being baptized but because we fasted and we had the spirit in the room we were able to teach her mom the importance of her daughter of being baptized and she said that it will be okay but we still have to talk to her dad about her date. We also took a very sketchy taxi atat night. It was scary.
Sunday- Okay so my dream came true today. We went to church and that was great. Oh I also hit 7 months in the mission and that is crazy! Well we left and one of our lessons fell through so we decided to contact and we were walking and I heard in English, ¨Hermanas do you want to buy some flowers.¨ I looked and there was a guy that was sitting in a garden and he said come here I want to talk to you guys. Well we went and we found out that he lived in Cali for 25 years and he knows English perfectly. Well I was talking to him and he said, ¨Hermana I want to hear something about God that I havent heard before¨ and so I was able to teach him about Jospeh Smith in English and he was really happy to hear about it. And he accepted a Book of Mormon and we have a plan to go visit him this next week. I have always wanted to teach someone and testify to someone in English and I cried afterwords because it was the best 7 month mark in my mission.
And today someone tried to take my wallet but I saw my wallet in his hand and I took it back and I talked to him in English and he was really mad at me but I will explain more of that next week.
Well this was my week and I am so glad that today is Monday because I really have missed talking to you guys and I want to let you know that I miss you all and I have been praying for all of you guys too.
Mom- there are seasons but just like Summer and Fall. Its pretty cold here right now but thats because it rains here all the time and there isnt sun right now. And when there is sun, its really hot. Like really hot.
Well thats all!
